  something i would really appreciate feedback for.... if any of you have ever made and impact on a jw what was it?

  what was the one sentance, or one seed of doubt that made their brains start ticking?

  The UN is Satan's organisation, why would they ever wanna CALL them up??

  Far too risky, especially considering the pertson already has a persecution complex, suffers from innordate amounts of guilt just from looking at the document and considering it...

  I personally stick to the Bible, impress the importance of Jesus in the NT, as opposed to God, and fling in Matt 24:23 without discussing it, I find they often sit in silence after the chat, and come back to that one. It's pretty damming and straightforward.

  Only using the Bible works for me, every time I've pointed out flaws in the Society, they view it as an attack and close down. Forgotten the scripture now, but the blind man led by the blind will suffer the same fate, that drives a wedge in the breach that matt 24:23 creates..

  Any other ideas?

  I don't think it really matters what the identity of the speaker is, as he was only reading a preprepared talk provided by the WT. I'm not keen on giving out his name anyway, due to the possibility of my own identity being uncovered locally.

  Evening all,

  Before I forget it all, here's the gist of our CO's talk today:

  The base scripture was Psalms 91, especially 91:3 "For he himself will deliver you from the trap of the birdcatcher, from the pestilences causing adversities."

  From what I gathered, the emphasis was on maintaining trust in God, and rooting out dissenters in our ranks. The CO moved on to Jer 5:26 to backup the birdcatcher ref, extra emphasis placed on " from among my people there have been found wicked men.... They have set a ruinous trap."

  Psalms 15:2 and 121:8 were then discussed, encouraging us to remain within the organisation and under god's umbrella of protection, and not to be mislead by what apostates and the world (news programs maybe??) might throw at us, as they are all Satan's spawn.

  1John 5:19 next, reminding us that the world is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. 2Cor 2:11, we should look out for these misleading plans, and be watchful of dissenters within our ranks, as they often come with smiles and greetings, but target individual persons to drag them away from god. He babbled on about this point for quite some time, insisting that we were the birds of Psalms 91.

  Isaiah 54:17: Condemn anything said against us, and you will have god's (and the organisations) protection.

  And finally rom 10:11 to drum it a bit more in.

  More threats and closing of ranks to me, sorry if I wasn't very clear on some points, I always feel a bit nauseous after the sunday meeting. I'm sure more will come back to me as the posts start coming in [])]

  CO talk

  we had our second co talk yesterday, the topic of which was loyalty, thinly veiled as to one another, but dripping with threats toward those who might go against the society.. after the usual drivel about the society being god's organisation, and appreciating their junk food (as an aside, has anyone actually vomitted up any of this "food"??

  just wondering...), i was rudely dragged out of my slumber by the co's harsh declaration that we should shun all those who slipped away from the thruth, as they inactivity is a bad influence.

  he went on to heap the blame on them, "if they feel this way, then they should expect their due", "they bring shunning onto themselves" etc.... has it always been this way?

  I discussed all of this with a JW this mirning, and my first point was that, as SumnerSloan says, surely the loving thing to do would be to go out and care for these people spiritually, encourage them and not reject them??

  Oh no no no, was the answer, they've already been given a chance to strengthen themselves, they know of the arrangement, we can't force them. So they're doing it to themselves.

  How much longer?

  i had this thought while reading the co visit thread, and decided to make it a separate topic.. how much longer can they keep beating the slaves before there is a rebellion?

  it is obvious that the trickle of people that are leaving is growing, and growing enough to make them worried.

  at some point it may become a flood.

  Just a personal experience to support every word Gozz said...

  We are currently going over the What does God..? brochure in my study, which usually lasts about 2 hours. I'll be chummy to start with, give 'em tea, and study for 1h1/2. Or at least that was what it was like for the first few chapters.

  While we were covering two chapters each session at the start, now it's barely one, and not due to me asking less questions. They'll yack away to each other, go off on tangeants, and I have sat there silent to just see for how long they would forget about me. Turns out the record is over 25mns, sat in my home, drinking my tea, with me right in front of them, but chatting about minor aspects of their lives to each other.

  Now I'm not complaining, I'm not exactely fussed about fazing out for a while, but this illustrates what Gozz is saying, they're not out to convert me, just to put their feet up, count the hours, and if I convert, well hey, that's swell.

  On the other hand, the elder conducting the study came round on Thursday with the CO to give me a study, in the space of 1/2h we'd covered a whole chapter, and there was no slack time.

  Just goes to show that even elders seem to be slacking off too, just keeping up appearances when the CO is in town...

  The CO will be giving his final talk on sunday, so I'll take some notes this time, with any chance some more material worth discussing will come out of it.

  As an interesting aside, just before the talk, we were studying p.271:1 to 277:15 of the Isaiah book, which was rather fitting with hindsight. All the emotional triggers well and truly flicked...

  I agree with the both of you, from my limited experience of young JWs, they all have "outside" friends, and one friend of mine told me she fully trusted the organisation, but was covering her social back as it were, in case she found herself incapable of following their teachings. Which brings us back to the heaviness of the load. The impression I get is that for the younger members, it IS a social thing, but not the ONLY social aspect of their lives. And that will be the undoing of the Society, when the R&F wake up one morning and decide enough is enough, I can't live like this, I might die at Armaggedon, but I have the social support to have damn good fun during my journey there.
